Breakdown
History stored only in this browser
How it's read. Old format: two-digit year, three-digit day of birth, three-digit serial, a check digit, then V (registered voter) or X. New format (2016 onwards): four-digit year, three-digit day, four-digit serial, check digit. Days are counted with February taken as 29 days regardless of year, and 500 is added for women. Old numbers convert to new by writing the year in full and padding the serial with a leading zero. The check digit's algorithm isn't published, so structure is validated but the check digit is shown as-is.
